How to Store Fava Beans

  • Seal Seal

    Seal unshelled fava beans in a Glad® Food Storage Zipper Bag. Squeeze as much air as possible out when sealing.

  • Refrigerate Refrigerate

    Place the bag in the crisper drawer.

  • Prep Prep

    To store shelled favas, remove beans from the pod and boil for approximately 3 minutes until their outer skins can be easily slipped off.

  • Store Store

    Remove and discard the skins, then place prepared favas into a GladWare® food protection container before refrigerating.

How to Freeze Fava Beans

  • Boil Boil

    Bring a large pot of water to a boil, and add salt.

  • Blanch Blanch

    Remove favas from thick pods. Blanch in boiling water for 3 mins, then plunge into ice water for 3 mins.

  • Pack Pack

    After removing inner beans from pale skins, dry and pack into a Freezer Zipper bag.

  • Freeze Freeze

    Seal and remove as much air as possible from bags. Place in the deepest part of the freezer.
