What are GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags?
GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags are specially designed to give you crisp, tender vegetables without the pots and pans by steaming in a healthy, convenient and safe way. GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags help you get fresh, good tasting food on the table that your family will love — without slowing you down in the kitchen.
How do I use GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags?
There are only three simple steps to steaming with this product: Fill, Cook and Serve.
1. Fill: place your favorite fresh or frozen vegetables (wash if fresh) inside. No water is necessary.
2. Cook: see bag for suggested cook time. Stand bag in microwave.
3. Serve: wait 30 seconds before opening as hot steam may escape.
Each bag can cook three to four servings of vegetables. These cooking times are calculated using a 1,000 watt microwave*.
*Microwave oven power varies and you may have to adjust cook times accordingly – just like cooking popcorn in the microwave, once you figure it out, you have it. Also most microwaves list wattage on a white sticker on the side of the inside door. For your reference, GLAD® has cooking times for a variety of microwave wattages online.

Why did GLAD® decide to invent/produce it?
In today‘s busy world, getting fresh, good tasting food on the table shouldn‘t have to slow you down. That‘s why GLAD® invented SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags. GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags enable you to prepare healthy, high quality food, such as vegetables, in a matter of minutes, without the pots and pans. Steamed vegetables, like those steamed in GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags, retain more nutrients than vegetables that are boiled. Steamed vegetables also retain their natural flavors and colors, and taste great!
How do I know how long to microwave my food?
There is an easy-to-follow cook table on each bag that details cooking times for a variety of foods. Cooking times are calculated using a 1,000 watt microwave*.

Will the plastic transfer to my food?
No. Concern about heating plastics comes from the use of chemical additives known as plasticizers in plastics made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). GLAD® does not use PVC plastics in its products. GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags are made with ingredients/plastics that comply with FDA regulations, and are safe for microwave cooking.

Can I use GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags as I would regular plastic storage bags?
GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Bags can be used in many of the ways regular plastic storage bags are used – prepping vegetables in advance, storing leftovers, packing food for your child‘s lunch, etc. The bags can be used in the refrigerator or freezer. They are designed to vent steam, so keep that in mind when you decide what to store in these microwave bags. We do not recommend storing liquids in GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Bags unless stored upright and filled below the steaming vents.
Are GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags reusable?
No. GLAD™ recommends using the bags one-time only to avoid cross contamination between foods.

GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags will be available in 10-count packages (3-4 serving size bags) at an approximate retail cost of $2.99. You can find the bags in stores near you beginning mid-July.
Are GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Bags available in other countries?
GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags will be available in the US and Canada.
Sometimes it‘s hard to get bulky food items like corn on the cob or
eggplant out of the bags. Is there an easier way to remove bulky food items?
Yes. GLAD® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags are designed with a unique tear-off top. When the tear-off top is removed, the bag can open wider, making it much easier to spoon out vegetables or remove bulky foods like corn on the cob. You can even eat directly out of the bag for those times when you are on the go. Simply wait at least 30 seconds before tearing off the bag top to allow the bag to cool. Then tear off the bag top in a horizontal motion from one of the steam vents until the top has completely detached itself.
