A Cleaner America Is In The Bag
GLAD ForceFlex® Trash Bags to Serve as Official Great American Cleanup™ Trash Bag
The GLAD Products Company will donate more than 4 million GLAD ForceFlex Large Trash Bags to be used during the Great American Cleanup the nation's largest annual community improvement program, which takes place from March 1 through May 31, 2005. As the official trash bag of the Great American Cleanup, ForceFlex bags will be used to collect tons of litter and debris throughout the U.S. With their stretchable strength and patented plastic technology, ForceFlex bags stretch around sharp, awkward and hard-to-manage trash items, preventing rips and tears and helping ensure an easier job for Great American Cleanup volunteers. The Company will also donate more than 2 million GLAD ForceFlex Tall Kitchen Trash Bags for volunteer gifts.
"GLAD products helped support Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup when it first launched 20 years ago," said Eric Reynolds, Marketing Manager, The GLAD Products Company. "We've launched some innovative trash products since then but one thing remains the same - the need to keep our communities, parks and public places beautiful. We are pleased to return to our roots and glad to help this year's Great American Cleanup."
Nearly 20 years ago, the makers of GLAD trash bags helped Keep America Beautiful achieve what were then considered exceptional results: 240,000 volunteers in 47 Keep America Beautiful participating communities bagged more than 6,781 tons of litter. In 2005, the Great American Cleanup is expected to involve more than 2 million volunteers working for more than 7 million hours cleaning, beautifying and improving 15,000 communities during 30,000 events from coast to coast. This year's goal is to collect 150 million pounds of litter and debris.
"We are thrilled that The GLAD Products Company is continuing its support and making a hands-on commitment to the success of the 20th anniversary of our Great American Cleanup," said G. Raymond Empson, president of Keep America Beautiful. "The GLAD ForceFlex Trash Bags are a critical component of our effort because they will allow our volunteers to pick up and dispose of all types of trash, whether small or bulky, without concern that the bags will break or leak."
