GLAD ForceFlex® Trash Bags Collect Strong Praise
Innovative trash bag gains reputation for tackling tough trash objects
OAKLAND, Calif., January 27, 2005 — Tough trash objects have met their match, and trash experts in the field and in the home are taking notice. Touted as the "ultimate" in trash bags by consumer product experts at Real Simple and newspapers across the country, GLAD ForceFlex trash bags, with their breakthrough, patented "SELFing" technology, are ready to stretch around awkward and hard-to-manage trash objects, to prevent puncturing or ripping.

In the December 2004/January 2005 issue, Real Simple compared GLAD ForceFlex trash bags and several other brands of trash bags. After suffering through three tests involving overstuffing, dragging, dropping, as well as a general weight test, GLAD ForceFlex trash bags stretched their way to success, being named the best-performing tall kitchen bag. The 13-gallon trash bag was praised by the magazine as, "surprisingly hardy for its size and weight," holding just as much weight as the 45-gallon bag did. The testers found that the bags' embossed diamond pattern provided extra elasticity for stretching around pointy edges without tearing.

In the January 23rd, 2005 issue of the Sunday New York Times, GLAD ForceFlex was called the "Mercedes" of trash bags.

In consumer tests where the product was used in-home for two weeks, close to 70 percent of consumers said they preferred GLAD ForceFlex tall kitchen bags over the other leading trash brand, citing their appreciation for ForceFlex's stretchable strength. From pizza boxes to hangers, people are amazed with what they can fill, stretch, and stuff into the bags.

"ForceFlex was designed to deliver on strength -- consumers' number one need when it comes to trash," said Al Savicki, Research and Development, The GLAD Product Company. "We know from our extensive research what consumers are putting in their trash, how they handle their trash and how much weight they typically put into their bags."

GLAD ForceFlex trash bags have been impressing consumers and industry insiders alike since the product's introduction in August 2004. ForceFlex trash bags surely have made the fear of trash disasters a thing of the past.

Here is what a few media and industry experts are saying about ForceFlex trash bags:

    "Trash bags made to stretch"
Akron Beacon Journal, August 28, 2004
  • "Stuff 'em, stretch 'em and overload 'em. They won't break."
    "Bags that forgive"
    Baltimore Sun, October 10, 2004
  • "Verdict: Huge hit."
"A garbage bag that bends but doesn't break"
Albany Times Union, September 27, 2004
  • "These bags could be used for just about anything. I was pushing my hand through it and it didn't bust, it stretched around it. What I like most is that stretching and the strength... this thing is strong. The first time I saw it, I just said 'yep.' I hope I see more of them on my route."
