By lunchtime, our kids need a break to renew their energy. And in the winter, they seem to need something that crisp, cool and crunchy foods just don’t provide. It’s time for warm, creamy, cheesy, soothing foods that not only revive but also comfort them through the afternoon.
The key to making this happen is a good thermal food container. And just focus on one part of lunch to keep warm – such as a sandwich filling to add to the roll right before eating.
Foods will say warmer longer if you pre-warm the thermal food container by filling it with boiling water while you heat things up and assemble the rest of lunch. Empty the water right when you are ready to fill it with hot food.
Main dishes aren’t the only hot idea for thermal food containers:
Beverages: Cocoa, hot cider, peppermint tea
Main Dishes: Chili, soup, mac & cheese, pasta marinara, wrapped burrito or tamale, hotdogs in hot water, left over Chinese carry out, shredded pork BBQ
On The Side: Cheese dip, leftover mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans
Desserts: Pudding, cobbler, cinnamon applesauce
